Sage Hill high school
Those who oppose required
community service deem it merely a good idea in theory. When implemented, they
assume it would be an ineffective learning tool and would soon fail. This video
illustrates how required community service currently benefits Sage Hill High
School. In this case, school is called off one Wednesday a month to help their
community with various projects. Although this specific method does not work
for every high school, the benefits that are observed in the Sage Hill students
will replicate themselves on every student who serves their community. Students
from Sage High love the outlet that community service provides and they feel it
aids in their growth as a person. One very important point in this video is
that students join projects that interest them, which aids in career skill
development. For example, students who want to be teachers can teach young children
and students who professionally surf can help save the ocean. They do what they
love, gain leadership skills, and benefit their community. (sagehillstories)
